My son had a cold with NON-STOP COUGHING, no sleep, and a runny nose (started tablets the next night) but today I had to take him to urgent care for a sore throat(strep). When we were there my son happened to cough and the doctor asked what I was using to treat his pharyngitis and I said I've been using these menthol tablets with a humidifier he said well whatever you're doing keep doing it because it's working. He said I am going to do a strep test and if it comes back positive continue to do the regimen you're doing, but add the antibiotic to it. My son hasnt had a runny nose since since Thursday and his cough subsided tremendously (literally maybe 3 times today and NO coughing at night)!
